Early Life: A Musical Evolution

George Harrison was an English musician best known as the lead guitarist of the iconic band, The Beatles. Often referred to as “the quiet Beatle,” Harrison played a crucial role in shaping the band’s evolving sound, introducing Indian instrumentation and Hindu spirituality into their music. His deep appreciation for Indian culture would become a defining aspect of both his career and personal life.

Harrison’s early influences included George Formby, Cab Calloway, Django Reinhardt, and Hoagy Carmichael. Following The Beatles’ breakup in 1970, Harrison embarked on a highly successful solo career. His triple album, All Things Must Pass, received critical acclaim and featured his most celebrated hit, “My Sweet Lord.” The album solidified his reputation as a solo artist and proved that he was more than just a supporting player in the world’s most famous band.

Personal Life

Harrsion used to be married to model, Pattie Boyd. They got married in 1966, separated in 1974 and finalized their divorce in 1977.

According to Boyd, she filed for a divorce due to Harrison’s numerous infidelities and his drug addiction behavior.

A year after his first divorce, Harrison remarried Olivia Trinidad Arias in 1978. The duo had a son together and remained married till he died.

Legacy and Spiritual Journey

Harrison continued to release best-selling albums and singles throughout his career while deepening his spiritual beliefs. His passion for Indian philosophy influenced not only his music but also his personal life, guiding his charitable endeavors and relationships. After battling lung cancer, Harrison passed away in 2001. Honoring his devotion to Hinduism, his remains were cremated, and his ashes were scattered in a private ceremony in the sacred waters of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers in India.
