Welch was married three times. He married his first wife, Carolyn, in 1959. They had four children together before divorcing in 1987.
He married his second wife, Jane Beasely, a MA lawyer, in 1989. They divorced in 2003. Welch married his last wife, Suzy Wetlaufer, in 2004.
