He was born on 25 August 1930, at the Royal Maternity Hospital in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland. He was brought up in a working-class family and faced multiple hardships during his childhood. His father, Joseph Connery, was a factory worker and lorry driver, and his mother, Euphemia McBain, worked as a cleaning woman.
Educationally, Connery attended various schools, but at the age of 13, he decided to stop his education and began working odd jobs to help support his family financially. He worked as a milkman, delivered coal, and assisted in the local bakery. At the age of 16, he joined the Royal Navy. Unfortunately, he was discharged from the Navy at the age of 19 due to some health issues.

In 1957, Sean Connery made his film debut in the crime drama “No Road Back.” After that, he received larger roles in movies like “Hell Drivers” and “Action of the Tiger.”
Connery got his breakthrough role in 1962 as British agent James Bond in the film “Dr. No.” Connery brought the character to life and captivated audiences worldwide. He continued his role as James Bond in a total of six official films: “From Russia with Love,” “Goldfinger,” “Thunderball,” “You Only Live Twice,” “Diamonds Are Forever,” and “Never Say Never Again.”
Connery took on a wide range of roles and exhibited his talent in acting in films like “Marnie,” “The Hill,” “The Offence,” and “The Wind and the Lion.” He also played the role of Professor Henry Jones, Indiana Jones’ father, in the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”
Throughout his career, Connery received many awards for his talent. One of his most notable achievements was winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Jimmy Malone in “The Untouchables” (1987). Connery also received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 1996 Golden Globe Awards and the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999, which solidified his status as a Hollywood legend.
In 1989, he received Screen Actors Guild Awards and BAFTA Scotland Awards. In addition to these accolades, Connery was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in the year 2000 for his services to the performing arts.
Connery died in his sleep on 31 October 2020, at the age of 90, at his home in the Lyford Cay community of Nassau in the Bahamas. Though the cause of death was not disclosed, his family announced that Connery had been unwell for some time.
